Surat City Bus Catches Fire Near Vanita Vishram, Passengers Evacuated Safely

A city bus carrying passengers narrowly escaped a major incident after a fire broke out in the silencer area near Vanita Vishram on Wednesday. Thankfully, the bus driver's presence of mind and immediate action ensured all passengers were safely deboarded, averting any injuries.

The bus, originating from Kosad depot and headed towards the airport, encountered the issue while passing by Mahavir Hospital Vanita Vishram. According to fire department sources, smoke and flames emerged from the silencer, causing panic among the passengers. Fire officials reached the scene promptly after receiving information about the incident and brought the fire under control.

Bus driver Somsingh Suryavanshi, who had picked up passengers from Surat railway station before heading towards the airport, reported around 20-25 passengers on board at the time. Sensing the burning smell near Vanita Rest Ground, Suryavanshi swiftly pulled over and ensured a safe evacuation. While initial attempts were made to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers on board, firefighters were ultimately called in to fully control the situation. Thankfully, there were no casualties reported in this incident.
