Surat Municipal Corporation Gifts Cycles and School Bags to Top Performers

In a special program organized today by the Surat City Primary Education Committee, bicycles were distributed to students who secured first place in class 6 across 70 schools. The remaining schools will receive their allocations tomorrow, ensuring all 350 beneficiaries are awarded by March 14th.

This initiative follows an amendment made by the Standing Committee in the Surat Municipal Corporation's budget. The committee allocated funds for the purchase of 350 bicycles at a cost of Rs 22.62 lakh and 1.62 lakh school bags at a cost of Rs 5.95 crore, aiming to incentivize academic performance.

The program officially commenced this morning at a Varachha school with Mayor Dakshesh Mavani, MLA Vinod Moradiya, Education Committee Chairman Rajendra Kapadia, and other members gracing the occasion. Over the next two days, all 350 schools under the Surat City Primary Education Committee will complete the distribution of cycles and school bags to deserving students.
