Surat Municipal Corporation Clears Long-Standing Encroachments in Varachha Zone

Surat : The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) successfully removed long-standing encroachments on a road in Varachha zone today with the assistance of police deployment. The move comes after years of resident complaints and failed attempts by the SMC due to opposition.

Over 150 huts that had been illegally constructed on the road were demolished, clearing the way for a comprehensive cleaning campaign. This action brings much-needed relief to nearby residential societies who have long been troubled by the encroachment.

The problematic encroachments were located on the road leading to Mama Dev Temple near Mahavir Circle in Poona TP 60 and in front of Bhagwati Society in Poona TP 20 (behind Balmukund Society). Residents reported significant inconvenience and nuisance due to these illegal structures.

The SMC had previously attempted to remove the encroachments in the past year, but faced resistance that forced them to halt the operation. Repeated requests for police assistance to tackle the issue were initially denied. Finally, after raising the issue in a general meeting and highlighting the public hardship caused by the encroachments, the SMC secured the necessary police support.

Today's operation began early morning and continued through the evening. The successful removal of the huts was followed by a thorough cleaning of the road by the Varachha Zone of the Municipal Corporation. Local residents have expressed immense satisfaction with the long-awaited clearance of the encroachments, which had significantly impacted their daily lives.
