Surat : Newlywed Bride Tragically Loses Life in Moped Accident on Ring Road

A newly married couple's journey to work took a heartbreaking turn on Tuesday morning when a freak accident on Surat's Ring Road claimed the life of the young bride. Divya Parate, just two months into her marriage, succumbed to her injuries after her dupatta got entangled in the tire of an ice truck, causing her to fall and be run over.

Divya and her husband, Shubham Parate, both gem artists, were traveling on their moped to their workplace in Varachha area around 7:20 AM when the tragedy struck. According to reports, an ice truck driver from Udhna Darwaja Bridge accidentally hit their moped, causing Shubham to lose control. Divya's dupatta then got caught in the truck's tire, leading to her fall and the fatal accident.

Despite suffering minor injuries himself, Shubham managed to chase the truck driver and force him to stop before the driver fled the scene. The bereaved husband then called for emergency services, but Divya, rushed to Civil Hospital in critical condition, was declared dead by doctors.

Shubham and Divya, originally from Nagpur but residing in Surat's Biliya Nagar Society, had tied the knot two months ago. Their families and loved ones are now grappling with the devastating loss, especially on the cusp of Valentine's Day, a day that held much promise for the young couple.

The Salabatpura police are currently investigating the accident and searching for the absconding truck driver. This tragic incident highlights the need for increased road safety measures and responsible driving to prevent such avoidable accidents, especially for vulnerable two-wheeler riders.
