Katargam Water Works Intake Well Valve Replacement to Affect Supply in Several Areas

Surat: Limbayat, Udhna & Katargam to Face Disruption on Tuesday Due to Maintenance Work

The Surat Municipal Corporation's (SMC) hydraulic department is undertaking crucial maintenance work at the Katargam Water Works and intake wells in a phased manner. On Tuesday, February 13th, replacement of non-return valves will result in no water supply in many areas of Limbayat and Udhna zones, while low pressure supply will affect parts of Katargam zone.

Limbayat and Udhna Face Complete Shutdowns:

Residents in areas supplied by the Kinnari Water Distribution Station in Limbayat will experience no water supply throughout the day. This includes Bhatena-1, Umiyanagar, Magdumnagar, Salimnagar, and several other colonies. Additionally, parts of Udhna A Zone, including Aksha Nagar, Hariom Nagar, and Lakshmi Nagar, will also face complete water disruption during the evening hours.

Katargam Sees Reduced Pressure:

While areas supplied by the Varachha Water Treatment Plant in Katargam will receive water, supply pressure will be significantly reduced. This affects Katargam village, Wade Darwaja, Rail Relief Colony, and several other localities. Additionally, the Varachha area itself, receiving water from the Ashwini Kumar Water Works, will also experience low pressure throughout the day.

SMC Appeals for Conservation:

Recognizing the inconvenience this may cause, the SMC urges residents in affected areas to use water sparingly and store it as needed. The maintenance work is crucial for ensuring long-term water system stability and improving service quality.

Timeline and Areas Affected:

  • Date: Tuesday, February 13th
  • Time: 9 am to 6 pm
