Saving Feathers and Lives: Surat's Dedicated Bird Rescue Efforts Take Flight Again

Surat : As Uttarayan, the vibrant kite-flying festival, approaches, Surat gears up not just for jubilant celebrations but also for a crucial mission: protecting injured birds from the perils of kite strings. For the past 16 years, a remarkable collaboration between the Nursing Association and Sahasrafana Parshvanath Charitable Trust-Gopipura has stood as a beacon of hope for countless feathered creatures during this festive period.

A Helping Hand for Birds and Humans:

This year, with the inauguration by MLA Smt. Sangeetaben Patil and Mayor Daksheshbhai Mavani, a dedicated helpline service has been launched at the New Civil Hospital. This compassionate initiative caters not only to injured birds but also to humans harmed by stray kite strings. A team of dedicated volunteers with their respective contact numbers ensures prompt assistance throughout the festival:

  • Chetan Ahir: 9737789229
  • Vibhor Chugh: 8460670644
  • Nilesh Lathiya: 9909927924

A Legacy of Compassion:

Dr. Mahendra Singh Chauhan, a Syndicate member and champion of this initiative for the past 16 years, emphasizes the enduring spirit of compassion behind the project. Guided by Iqbal Kadiwala of the Nursing Council, this dedicated team has transformed the helpline service into a 17-year legacy of unwavering care for injured birds.

A Collaborative Effort:

The inauguration at the New Civil Hospital saw the presence of Laherubhai Chawala of Sahasrafana Trust, additional medical personnel, and key members of the Nursing Association team. This collective effort underscores the strength in unity, showcasing Surat's commitment to safeguarding both human and avian lives during Uttarayan.

As the skies prepare to dance with colorful kites, Surat's dedication to its feathered friends takes flight once again. The unwavering efforts of the Nursing Association, Sahasrafana Parshvanath Charitable Trust-Gopipura, and countless volunteers serve as a reminder that compassion knows no boundaries, and even during festive revelry, kindness can soar alongside joy.
