Surat : Wrong-Way Dumper Crashes into Bus in Hazira Area, Minor Injuries Reported
Surat : : A dumper truck driving on the wrong side collided with a passenger bus near gate number two of L&T Company in Hazira on Saturday, causing minor injuries to two to three passengers and the bus driver.
The accident occurred when the dumper, reportedly lacking brakes, swerved onto the opposite lane and hit the oncoming bus, which was carrying company security personnel and over 20 passengers. The impact shattered the driver's side window of the bus, injuring the driver's ear with flying glass.
Panicked by the sudden collision, all passengers on board the bus scrambled to disembark. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were mostly minor, with some passengers suffering bumps and bruises. The bus driver, bleeding from his ear, and the injured passengers were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to initial reports, the dumper driver had attempted to avoid a passenger bus ahead that had abruptly braked. However, due to malfunctioning brakes on his own vehicle, he lost control and ended up driving onto the wrong side, leading to the crash.
Following the incident, a case has been registered against the dumper driver. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and the condition of the vehicles involved. While the injuries sustained appear to be non-life-threatening, this close call serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the potentially devastating consequences of reckless driving.
