Teen Caught by Police Turns Out to Be Drug Addict, Sent to De-Addiction Center

Vadodara : A young man who was caught by police during a New Year's crackdown on intoxicated individuals turned out to be a drug addict and was subsequently sent to a de-addiction center for treatment.

The police had launched a special operation to curb drunk driving and other alcohol-related offenses during the holiday season. They apprehended the young man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, based on his unusual behavior.

However, upon closer inspection at the police station, officers noticed that the young man's strange behavior was not due to alcohol but something else. Following the guidance of DCP Panna Momaya, the police investigated further and discovered that the youth was a drug addict.

The young man, who had studied till the 10th grade in English medium, had started substance abuse by sniffing thinner at the tender age of 12. He soon progressed to harder drugs and eventually became addicted to marijuana and hashish.

His addiction had a devastating impact on his life. He once vandalized his own house and attacked his mother and sister. The tragic suicide of his father further deepened his depression and fueled his drug use.

After learning about the young man's struggles, police officer Jadav of the Karelibagh police station, with the help of the young man's mother and sister, admitted him to a de-addiction center in the Somatlav area. They hope that treatment at the center will help him overcome his addiction and rebuild his life.

This case highlights the growing problem of drug addiction among young people in India. It is a complex issue with various contributing factors, including peer pressure, family problems, and mental health issues. Early intervention and access to proper treatment are crucial for helping young people struggling with addiction turn their lives around.
