Grand Kick-off for Diwan Bahadur Gandhi Cup and Public Cup Sports Festival in Surat

Surat - The vibrant city of Surat witnessed the spectacular inauguration of the 83rd Diwan Bahadur Gandhi Cup for Schools and the 16th Public Cup Sports Festival for Colleges at the KP Commerce College Ground of Sarvajanik Education Society. The event, hosted by the esteemed educational institution, showcased the spirit of sportsmanship, bringing together 16 schools and 14 colleges with a total of 3000 enthusiastic students.

Surat District Collector Ayushkumar Oak presided over the ceremony as the chief guest, accompanied by former Indian cricket team wicketkeeper Nayan Mongia and Chhotubhai Patil, the former vice president of Bharatiya Janata Party Surat city, who graced the occasion as special guests.

The opening ceremony witnessed a series of engaging activities, with Chairman Bharatbhai Shah, Vice Chairman Ashishbhai Vakil, and other dignitaries, including former Chairman Managing Committee Dr. Kishorebhai Desai, Chairman Sports Committee Mayankbhai Desai, and Minister in-charge J.K. Sachinwala, actively participating in various games to kickstart the festivities.

Addressing the gathering, President Bharatbhai Shah expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that allowed the sports ground to be utilized once again. He urged everyone, especially teachers and principals, to encourage students to actively participate in sports and make the most of the available facilities.

In his motivating speech, Collector Ayushkumar Oak commended the substantial turnout of players, encouraging them to play with passion for the nation and strive to make a mark on the international stage. He lauded the organizers for consistently hosting successful sports events over the years.

Former Indian cricket team wicketkeeper, Nayan Mongia, extended New Year wishes to the students and shared insightful perspectives on the transformative power of sports in shaping one's life. He urged the young athletes to embrace sportsmanship not only in their games but also in life.

Chhotubhai Patil commended the initiatives of the Sarvajanik Education Society and called upon students to cultivate a love for sports. The ceremony featured a captivating display of various yoga postures by three students from Government College, leaving the audience mesmerized.

The distinguished guests presented medals to students who had achieved excellence at international and national levels. The entire event was orchestrated under the guidance of Sports Committee Chairman CA Mayankbhai Desai, with the support of School Committee Minister Surendra Vadile, Ms. Medhaben Thakar, Sarvajanik University Education Professor Dilip Patel, Dr. Amit Patel, and Dr. Nishith Desai. The successful organization of this grand sports festival marked a significant achievement for the Sarvajanik Education Society in promoting sports and fostering a spirit of competition among the youth of Surat.
