Major Liquor Bust in Surat Ahead of New Year, Four Declared Wanted

In a major crackdown ahead of the New Year celebrations, the State Vigilance has seized a large quantity of foreign liquor from the Chowkbazar area of Surat. The raid, conducted on an open space near the Suez Treatment Plant, resulted in the arrest of one liquor smuggler and the discovery of 2,808 bottles worth Rs. 6,38,640. However, the operation has also sparked a controversy, with the police station area itself under scrutiny for potential involvement.
Bootlegger Network Exposed, Police Complicity Suspected
Further investigations revealed that the seized liquor was ordered by a notorious bootlegger named Alpesh Jadio, who is suspected to have direct connections with several police officers. This has led to a stir among the Chowk Bazaar police administration, with questions being raised about their potential negligence or complicity in the illegal activity.
Accused on the Run, Police Launch Manhunt
State Vigilance PSI H.H. Jadeja stated that the raid was conducted based on specific information. The arrested smuggler, identified as Bhavesh Kanaiyalal Rana (24, resident of Gandharak Phalia), was found in possession of foreign liquor bottles worth over Rs. 6 lakhs along with a mobile phone. Additionally, four individuals have been declared wanted in connection with the case, including the kingpin Alpesh Jadio. The remaining three accused are the driver and owner of a Mahindra vehicle used for transportation and Bagi Patel, a resident of Amroli, Surat.
Concerns Raised, Investigation Underway
The seizure of such a large quantity of liquor has raised serious concerns about the extent of illegal liquor trade in Surat and the potential involvement of law enforcement personnel. The State Vigilance is currently conducting a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the remaining accused. The probe also aims to shed light on any possible connections between the smugglers and the local police administration.
