Surat Cloth Merchant Faces Ransom Threat from Bishnoi Gang
Local Police and Crime Branch Investigate the Menacing Call
An online cloth merchant in Surat, Ketanbhai Chauhan, has received a menacing ransom call from a person claiming to be Sagarit of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The caller demanded INR 5 lakhs and threatened to murder Chauhan within 24 hours if the sum was not paid. In response, the frightened merchant filed a complaint with the Varachha police station, where a case was registered, and both the Varachha and Crime Branch police departments have since launched investigations.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for its involvement in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala and for threatening Bollywood actor Salman Khan, has created an uproar in Surat with this latest threat. Chauhan, who runs an online textile business in Mota Varachha, initially dismissed the call but later realized the gravity of the situation after learning about the gang's criminal history through social media.
As a result of the threats, Chauhan's family has become increasingly concerned for their safety. The police are currently working to identify and apprehend the caller, taking the complaint seriously due to the gang's violent reputation.
