Ghanaian Councilor Muniru Kadiri Extends Invitation to Surat's Business Community During 'Explore Africa' Program
Surat - In a strategic move to foster economic ties and explore business prospects, the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) organized a significant business meet as part of the 'Explore Africa' program under SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84. The event, held on Saturday at the Samhati Building in Sarsana, Surat, featured Ghanaian Councilor Muniru Kadiri from the Ghana Embassy.
Councilor Kadiri highlighted the vast investment potential in Ghana's textile industry, emphasizing the demand for handmade clothing among Ghanaian citizens. Leveraging the opportunity, he extended an invitation to textile industrialists and businessmen from Surat to establish factories and units in Ghana. The councilor cited the affordability of land in Ghana and the government's One District One Factory program, which offers subsidies to support industrial development.
Ghana, known for its production of cosmetics, food processing, soybeans, and cocoa, also imports agricultural chemicals. Councilor Kadiri encouraged Surat's industrialists and exporters to explore the possibility of exporting agrochemicals to Ghana. Additionally, he pointed out the high demand for monoculture products, including fish, creating a significant opportunity for Surat to export such products to Ghana.
Describing India as a "big brother" to Ghana in West Africa, Councilor Kadiri highlighted the strong bilateral trade relations between the two countries. He provided detailed information about tax exemptions and incentives offered by the Government of Ghana to encourage investment from Surat's industrialists and businessmen.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Nikhil Madrasi, Honorary Minister of the Chamber of Commerce. Paresh Bhatt, CEO of Mission 84, moderated the meeting, and Amit Mulani, an exporter and international trade consultant, delivered a presentation on export opportunities in Ghana. Councilor Kadiri engaged with the business community, addressing various questions related to investment and trade in Ghana. Komal Shah, a core committee member of the Chamber, concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks to all participants. The session proved to be an insightful exploration of potential collaborations between Surat and Ghana, promising mutual economic growth.
