In a bid to fortify the local business community against evolving cyber threats, the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently organized a comprehensive workshop. The event featured distinguished cyber security experts, Swati Phadke and Dharmesh Rathod, who delved into the intricacies of the newly introduced Data Protection Act-2023.
Insights from Swati Phadke: Addressing the gathering, cyber security maven Swati Phadke highlighted the crucial aspects of the Data Protection Act. Emphasizing the need for companies to safeguard their data, she underscored that the act strictly prohibits the placement or sharing of data on any dark web platform. Phadke provided valuable insights into the organization of personal data and the discreet ways in which smart devices capture information in the background. Moreover, she shed light on the international landscape by explaining the diverse data protection rules and laws applicable in different countries.
Dharmesh Rathod's Perspective: Fellow cyber security expert Dharmesh Rathod directed his focus on the cyber security landscape within organizations and corporate entities. Rathod elucidated the potential threats posed by cyber attackers, citing varying motives and timings for attacks. Drawing attention to the evolving tactics of cyber attackers, he highlighted the risk of attacks through Bluetooth on websites and applications. Rathod not only discussed preventive measures but also delved into the specifics of how cyber attackers acquire citizen data and utilize APIs to execute attacks.
Event Highlights: The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address by Kamlesh Gajera, the Group Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce. The audience, comprised of industrialists, businessmen, and professionals, including former Chamber President Rohit Mehta, actively participated in the engaging session.
