SGCCI Mission 84 Gains Momentum: MoU with Bombay Chamber of Commerce to Boost Trade

Surat - December 5, 2023: In a significant development, the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has partnered with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to support its ambitious Mission 84 project. The collaboration aims to facilitate trade between micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Surat and large industrial houses in Mumbai, ultimately strengthening the Indian economy.

As part of the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84, SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia and Honorary Minister Nikhil Madrasi recently met with Sandeep Khosla, Director General of BCCI, in Mumbai. During the meeting, Vaghasia presented the Mission 84 project, highlighting its objective to increase exports from India by connecting 84,000 Indian entrepreneurs with 84,000 international traders and chambers of commerce.

Vaghasia emphasized the importance of BCCI's participation in the project, given its large membership base of over 3500 major industrial houses. He requested BCCI's support in encouraging these industrial houses to source products from MSMEs in Surat, thereby opening new markets and promoting business expansion for local entrepreneurs.

Khosla expressed his strong support for Mission 84 and its potential to benefit both Surat's MSMEs and Mumbai's large industries. He agreed to include BCCI members on the project's online international platform and facilitate business meetings between industrialists from both cities.

The meeting culminated in a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SGCCI and BCCI to formalize their collaboration. The MoU will pave the way for:

  • Business meetings: Bringing together owners of large Mumbai industries with Surat's MSMEs for potential business partnerships.
  • Direct procurement: Opening new avenues for Surat's MSMEs to supply essential products to Mumbai's major industrial houses.
  • Industrial visits: Enabling SGCCI members to visit major industrial houses and factories in Mumbai to gain insights into their product requirements.
  • Joint events: Collaborating on organizing conferences and events in Surat and Mumbai to promote business opportunities and knowledge sharing.
  • Expert guidance: Facilitating online access for SGCCI members to business-industry experts in Mumbai for valuable advice and guidance.

This strategic partnership between SGCCI and BCCI marks a significant step forward for Mission 84. By connecting Surat's MSMEs with large industries in Mumbai, the project has the potential to create new opportunities, boost trade, and contribute significantly to the national economy.
