Six Cities in Gujarat to Become Smart Cities with Central Government Grant

The Central Government of India has selected six cities in Gujarat to be developed under the Smart City Mission, granting a total of Rs 2,326 crore for their transformation. Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Dahod have been chosen to join the ranks of smart cities, offering improved healthcare systems, governance, transportation, security surveillance, infrastructure, and employment opportunities.

Each city has received a substantial grant for their development: Ahmedabad with Rs 459.34 crore, Gandhinagar with Rs 315.305 crore, Rajkot with Rs 386.76 crore, Surat with Rs 490 crore, Dahod with Rs 293 crore, and Vadodara with Rs 382 crore. The Smart City project aims to alleviate increasing congestion and traffic in cities, ensure citizen safety, reduce pollution, prevent road accidents, and create dedicated paths for cyclists.
