Surat : ECI Launches Special Drive to Update Voter Lists for Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections
Citizens Can Enroll, Link Aadhaar, and Make Corrections During Campaign Days
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a Special Concise Revision Drive of Photographic Electoral Rolls to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the voter lists for the upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections. The drive will focus on enrolling new voters who have completed 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2024, and on preparing error-free updated electoral rolls.
Special Campaign Days
During the special short revision period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at designated polling stations on three special campaign days:
- November 26, 2023 (Sunday)
- December 3, 2023 (Sunday)
- December 9, 2023 (Sunday)
BLOs will be available from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM to accept claim and objection applications.
Who can Apply?
Citizens can apply for the following during the special campaign days:
- Enroll as a new voter: Citizens who have completed 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2024, can apply using Form No. 6.
- Link Aadhaar card with voter ID card: Citizens can link their Aadhaar card with their voter ID card using Form No. 6B.
- Apply for name deletion in case of death or transfer: Citizens can apply for name deletion in case of death or transfer using Form No. 7.
- Apply for correction of name, surname, date of birth, or photo: Citizens can apply for correction of name, surname, date of birth, or photo in their voter ID card using Form No. 8.
Online Application
Citizens can also submit online claims through the following websites:
- www.voterportal.eci.gov.in
- www.voters.eci.gov.in
The Voter Helpline mobile app can also be used to submit online claims.
Important Documents
Citizens should carry the following documents to the polling station during the special campaign days:
- Proof of identity: Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving license, or any other valid government-issued identity card.
- Proof of residence: Recent electricity bill, telephone bill, or gas bill.
- Proof of age: Birth certificate, school leaving certificate, or any other valid document.
ECI Appeals for Active Participation
The ECI appeals to all eligible citizens to participate actively in the Special Concise Revision Drive and ensure that their names are enrolled in the voter lists. By enrolling and updating their voter information, citizens can exercise their democratic right to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections.
