Surat Municipal Corporation to Launch Zone-Wise Cleanliness Drive

Surat - In an effort to keep Surat city clean, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced a new cleanliness drive that will target food lorries that litter. The drive will begin on November 26th and will focus on eight zones in the city.

The SMC team will be taking rounds from 7 pm to 11 pm and will be issuing fines of Rs. 500 for the first offense, Rs. 1000 for the second offense, and towing the vehicle for subsequent offenses. The team will also be making announcements asking people to keep dustbins and separate dry and wet waste.

The cleanliness drive will be conducted on a zone-wise basis. The schedule is as follows:

  • November 26th: Seemada Naka to Bapa Sitaram Chowk in Varachha-B zone
  • November 27th: Sangini Circle to Bhagwan Mahavir College in Eighth Zone
  • November 28th: Sumul Dairy Raid at Central Zone Railway Station and the road leading to Lal Darwaza and the road leading to Delhigate
  • November 29th: Sachin Station Road to Wanj Char Road in Udhna-B zone
  • November 30th: Four roads from Kinnari to Bhathena in Limbayat zone
  • December 1st: Road from Gujarat Gas Circle to Rishabh and Bhulka Bhawan and Sarita Sagar in Rander Zone
  • December 2nd: Udhna-A Zone from Gandhi Kutir Bridge to Hedgewar Bridge to Zone Office Rewa Khadi Bridge
  • December 3rd: Umiadham Temple to Khand Bazaar in Varachha-e Zone
  • December 4th: Siganpore vegetable market in Katargam area

The SMC is urging all citizens to cooperate with the cleanliness drive and help keep Surat city clean.
