PMO Urges Completion of New Terminal Building at Surat Airport by July

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has issued an ultimatum to the Surat Airport Authority to complete all ongoing operations, including the new terminal building, by July. The order has resulted in a speedup of work at the airport, where 80% of the work has been completed, including flooring, major lighting, and civil works in both the terminal buildings. However, finishing work such as proper lighting, glasswork outside the building, plumbing work, furnishing, and preparation of new shops are yet to be completed.

The new terminal building is being constructed in two sections on both sides, with a total area of 17046 square meters. Upon completion, the terminal building will have a total area of 25520 square meters, enabling it to handle over 2,000 passengers daily and more than 26 lakh passengers annually.

In addition to the terminal building, work is also underway to prepare a garden outside the terminal building. In-charge Airport Director S.C. Bhalse has confirmed that most of the work has been completed, and the stalled civil work will be completed expeditiously.

With just four months remaining, the Surat Airport Authority is racing against time to complete the remaining work to meet the PMO's deadline.
