Surat Witnesses 40% Dip in City Bus and BRTS Passengers During Diwali Holidays

Surat : With Diwali holidays in full swing, Surat is experiencing a notable decline in the number of passengers using city bus and BRTS services. A significant portion of Surat residents have left the city for the holidays, resulting in a 40% drop in passenger traffic.

Currently, the number of passengers is estimated to be less than 1 lakh, a substantial decrease from the usual daily average. This reduction has prompted the Municipal Corporation to adjust its bus operations accordingly. Out of the 776 buses that typically operate on regular days, only 209 are currently in service.

The decline in passenger traffic is a common occurrence during Diwali, as people tend to travel to their hometowns or embark on vacations. However, with the holidays coming to an end, it is anticipated that passenger numbers will gradually return to normal levels.

City Bus and BRTS services have been instrumental in providing convenient and affordable transportation to Surat residents. The services have gained popularity, particularly among working professionals who rely on buses for their daily commute. Despite the current dip in passenger traffic, City Bus and BRTS remain an essential part of Surat's transportation infrastructure.

As the city gears up for the post-Diwali period, it is expected that both City Bus and BRTS services will resume full operations to meet the transportation needs of Surat residents.
