Vadodara Student Makes History by Giving Board Exam on Laptop
Blind school student uses software to answer questions
Isha Makwana, a student at a blind school in Vadodara, has made history by becoming the first student of the Gujarat Board to take her class 10 board exam on a laptop. With the help of a special software, Isha was able to type her answers on the laptop as the question paper was provided in Braille. This eliminated the need for a writer and made the exam accessible to Isha in a way that was not possible before.
Rosary School in Vadodara provided the necessary arrangements for Isha to take the exam on the laptop. After she completed the exam, the invigilator took a printout of her answers and attached it to her answer sheet so that it could be checked like any other student's.
Last year, another girl student from Vadodara appeared for the 10th class board exam, but she was from the central board. Isha Makwana's achievement is a first for the Gujarat Board and sets a new precedent for the accessibility of exams to visually impaired students. The principal of the school for the visually impaired expressed her pride in Isha's accomplishment and hopes that this will inspire other visually impaired students to pursue their goals with determination and dedication.
