Surat Police Destroys Seized Liquor Worth 37.97 Lakhs in 6 Police Stations

Surat police destroyed a huge quantity of seized liquor on Tuesday after the permission of the court. The liquor was seized from six police stations in Zone 4 of the city police over the past eight months. The police used a road roller to destroy the liquor worth Rs 37.97 lakh in the Pandesara area.

Liquor smuggling is a common problem in Surat, and the police have been seizing liquor on a regular basis. After obtaining permission from the court, the seized liquor is destroyed to prevent it from reaching the market. In the past eight months, the police have seized liquor worth Rs 37,97,688 from six police stations - Surat, Athwa, Vesu, Umra, Pandesara, Khatodara, and Althan.

The liquor was destroyed in an open space near the CETP plant in Pandesara. The police threw 23,027 bottles of liquor on the road and then used a road roller to crush them. The entire process was carried out in the presence of senior police officials.

DCP Sagar Bagmare said that the destruction of foreign liquor worth Rs 37.97 lakh was carried out with the permission of the court. The police are taking all necessary steps to curb the illegal trade of liquor in the city.

The destruction of the seized liquor highlights the need for stricter measures to prevent the smuggling and sale of illegal liquor in Surat. The police are committed to maintaining law and order in the city and will continue to take action against those involved in the illegal trade of liquor.
