Surat Municipal Corporation Allotted 1,060 EWS Houses and Computerized 1,498 Houses Under PMAY
Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai Says Every Needy Person is Given the Benefit of the Housing Scheme Without Discrimination
Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), led by Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals Minister Kanubhai Desai, has allotted a total of 1,060 EWS houses at an estimated cost of Rs 78.71 crore and computerized a total of 1,498 houses at an estimated cost of Rs 73.18 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Mota Varachha area.
Speaking at the event, Desai congratulated the beneficiaries on getting new houses as gifts before Diwali and said that under PMAY, every needy person is given the benefit of the housing scheme without casteism or any other discrimination. He added that Surat is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and inter-provincial citizens coming for business purposes are also getting accommodation through housing schemes.
Desai also said that under the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Housing Scheme, modern affordable housing with all facilities has been arranged, due to which the proportion of slums in the city has reduced from 25 percent to 5 percent. He added that this increase in cleanliness is also having a positive impact on people's health.
The R.C.C. flats are available at a nominal price of Rs 8.50 lakh only and have a drainage network, gas line, fire fighting system, compound wall, watchman room, paver blocks in margin area, COP development including plantation, LED streetlights, organic waste converter (OWC), water recharging, bore, underground and overhead water tanks.
MLA Sandeepbhai Patel, Sangeetaben Patil, Praveenbhai Ghoghari, Mayor Daksheshbhai Mavani, Deputy Mayor Dr. Narendra Patil, Standing Committee Chairman Rajanbhai Patel, Slum Committee Chairman Vijaybhai Chaumal, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shalini Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner Ashish Nayak, former Mayor and Surat City BJP President Niranjanbhai Zanzmera, ruling party leader Shashikala Tripathi, magistrate Dharmeshbhai Vaniyawala, corporator Bhavnaben Solanki and other Municipal Corporation employees and a large number of beneficiaries were also present at the event.
