Surat : ST Employees Protest Unfulfilled Demands
Employees to hold mass protest on November 3 if demands are not met
Surat, October 25, 2023: Employees of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (ST) Board once again held a protest in Surat on Tuesday over various pending demands. The employees gathered at the Madhyamik bus station and demanded that the government fulfill their demands, including dearness allowance, Seventh Pay Commission benefits, and salary hike for contract employees.
Vice President of Gujarat ST Mazdoor Mahasangh said that the government has been ignoring their demands for a long time. "We have given them several warnings, but they have not taken us seriously," he said. "Now, we are forced to take to the streets."
The employees have announced a series of protest programs to demand their rights. From October 27 to 30, they will wear black bands and black clothes at work. On November 3, they will hold a mass protest at the bus station.
"If the government does not fulfill our demands by November 2, we will go on strike," said the vice president of the union.
The employees' demands include:
- Dearness allowance
- Seventh Pay Commission benefits
- Salary hike for contract employees
- Regularization of contract employees
- Filling of vacant posts
- Improvement in working conditions
The government has not yet responded to the employees' demands.
