Olpad Saroli railway overbridge ready for two weeks, yet inauguration delayed
The Saroli Railway Overbridge, which connects Surat to Olpad, has been ready for more than two weeks. However, due to its non-inauguration, people are often using the barricade on the bridge by removing it, causing traffic problems. The Surat Municipality has sought time from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for the inauguration of the bridge, but the Chief Minister's busy schedule, with the Vidhan Sabha in session, is causing delays.
The municipality constructed the overbridge to ease traffic problems, as the Western Railway passes between Kosad and Gothan railway stations, through Jahangirpura in a north-south direction, to Kribhco Industries in the city's industrial area of Lagoo Hazira. The overbridge was constructed by the state government's R&B department on the Kribhako railway line and replaces a dilapidated bridge that was built in 1990.
The new three-lane railway overbridge from Surat to Olpad is ready, but the municipality cannot open the bridge without an official inauguration. The municipality cannot get the bridge inaugurated by any other dignitary, and thousands of people are facing problems every day.
