Surat NGO Teaches Adolescent Girls About Good Touch and Bad Touch, Distributes Sanitary Napkins
Hope Charitable Trust works to empower girls and prevent abuse
Surat, October 15: During the ongoing Navratri festival, a Surat-based NGO called Hope Charitable Trust is working to empower adolescent girls and prevent abuse by teaching them about good touch and bad touch and distributing sanitary napkins to students of municipal corporation schools.
The trust believes that the best way to worship Maa Durga is to protect and empower girls. That's why they have taken up this initiative during Navratri, which is a time when Hindus celebrate the power of the feminine.
The trust's president, Jignesh Gandhi, says, "We are trying to provide this education especially during Navratri because this is the age when a teenage girl experiences menstruation for the first time. Along with giving proper understanding to such girls, we are also giving them sanitary napkins and teaching them how to take care of their body parts."
Chelna Jain, a female member of the trust, says, "Education about good touch and bad touch is also very important for girls studying in municipal schools. We have tried to ensure that no one takes advantage of her at this age. We will try to make adolescent girls aware about this in the coming days also so that they are not abused."
The trust's work has been appreciated by many people, including parents and school authorities. Parents say that this initiative is very important to protect their daughters from abuse. School authorities say that the trust's work is helping to raise awareness about a very important issue.
Hope Charitable Trust is a leading NGO in Surat that works to help poor and middle-class people during various festivals or disasters. The trust's work is helping to make Surat a safer and more empowering place for girls and women.
