Surat Police Investigates Work Visa Fraud Case After Victims File Complaint
About 15 laborers allegedly cheated of lakhs of rupees by compatriot
The Surat Police have launched an investigation into a work visa fraud case after about 15 laborers filed a complaint alleging that they were cheated of lakhs of rupees by a compatriot in the name of getting them a job in a Dubai company.
The victims, who are all from the Ichchhapor area of Surat, told the police that Vikas Kumar, a resident of their hometown, had collected amounts ranging from Rs 65 thousand to Rs 1 lakh from them in the name of providing them a job in Dubai.
Kumar had promised the victims a good salary and other facilities including accommodation in Dubai. However, when they reached Dubai, they found that there was no such facility or arrangement. They were also asked to pay Rs 25,000 each to the company, which they refused to do.
The victims then returned to Surat and contacted Kumar, but he refused to return their money. They then filed a written complaint with the Anti-Financial Crime Branch of the Surat Crime Branch.
The police have assured the victims that they will take appropriate action. However, no action has been taken till now.
The victims of fraud are demanding justice and want the police to arrest Kumar and recover their money.
This incident is a reminder to people to be careful when dealing with visa consultants and other agents who promise to get them jobs abroad. It is important to do your research and verify the credentials of any agent before making any payments.
