Surat : A woman was robbed of her gold chain by two men on a bike in Surat's Adajan Koliwad area on Friday morning. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the police have launched an investigation to catch the accused.
The victim, Manali Patel, said that she had gone to buy vegetables on her moped when one of the two men on a bike got down and followed her. He kept an eye on her while she was checking the prices of tomatoes, and when she sat on her moped with vegetables, he immediately put his hand on her neck and held the chain.
Patel tried to save the chain by placing her hand on her neck, but the chain broke and half of it fell into the man's hand. He then ran away, and Patel shouted for help. A passerby tried to catch him, but both the men managed to escape on their bike.
Patel immediately lodged a complaint with the Adajan police, and they are now investigating the incident. The CCTV footage of the incident is being used to identify the accused.
This is the latest in a series of chain snatching incidents in Surat in recent months. The police have urged residents to be careful and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
