Surat Family Turns Grief into a Lifeline for Others
Brain Dead Man's Organs Donated, Offers New Hope to Needy Patients
SURAT: Upholding the principle of 'Organ Donation Mahadan', a grieving family in Surat has transformed their personal tragedy into a beacon of hope for others. Neelamdevi Bhinde, representing the Bhind family from Uttar Pradesh, took the commendable step of donating two kidneys, a liver, and two eyes of her late husband, Ramjibhai Santlal Bhind, who was declared brain dead during his treatment at the New Civil Hospital in Surat.
Originally from Mahdepur Bhori Sant Ravidasnagar in Uttar Pradesh, Ramjibhai worked in a mold factory in Surat. A sudden mishap on September 19 left him critically injured, leading to his hospitalization. Despite intensive treatment, he was declared brain dead by the medical team on October 5. Recognizing the potential to save other lives, the hospital's R.M.O., along with other medical professionals, approached the family about organ donation.
Despite grappling with immense grief, the Bhind family, led by Neelamdevi, chose to give the invaluable gift of life to others in need. They hoped that their decision would ensure that other families might not suffer the same loss they did.
Neelamdevi's brave choice amidst a heart-wrenching situation stands as a poignant testament to human resilience and compassion. As per the guidelines of Soto and Noto, the deceased's kidneys and liver were transported to Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad, while his eyes were entrusted to the Ice Bank of New Civil Hospital.
Such selfless acts underscore the profound impact organ donation can have, offering a lifeline to those in desperate need while bringing meaning to a life lost.
