South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Unveils NRI Legal Help Desk

Surat — In a significant move to support the legal concerns of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Non-Resident Gujaratis (NRGs), the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched an NRI Legal Help Desk. The desk was inaugurated on Saturday at Samhti, Sarsana, Surat, by Kiran Thummar, the Honorary Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce.

The inauguration was accompanied by a meeting involving key figures such as Kalpesh Lathia, President of the NRG Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Supreme Court Advocate Preeti Joshi, Advocate Sangeeta Khunt, Suresh Gajera, and Prakash Hathi.

Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar highlighted the Chamber's ongoing efforts to serve NRIs and NRGs. "The NRI Legal Help Desk is an extension of our commitment to support the NRI and NRG community," said Thummar. While an NRG Center managed by the Gujarat State Non-Resident Gujarati Foundation is already functional, the newly established Legal Help Desk will now offer an additional resource. NRIs and NRGs in need of legal guidance can contact the Chamber of Commerce at phone number 0261-2291111.

Kalpesh Lathiya, Chairman of the NRG Committee, revealed that the Legal Help Desk will be open on the fourth Saturday of every month from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Headed by Advocate Preeti Joshi, the desk will feature legal experts who will provide guidance on marriage, visa-related issues, and other concerns affecting NRIs and NRGs.

The initiative complements existing NRG centers managed by the Gujarat State Non-Resident Gujarati Foundation. These centers act as conduits for escalating various concerns of NRIs and NRGs to the government, which prioritizes their resolution.

The introduction of the NRI Legal Help Desk adds another layer to the existing ecosystem, aiming to facilitate a smoother and more streamlined process for addressing the legal needs of the NRI and NRG communities in South Gujarat.
