Surat's Diamond Industry Gets Relief: Frozen Bank Accounts Revived
Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and Surat Police Commissioner Ajaykumar Tomar Intervene, Initiating Swift Action to Unfreeze Diamond Companies' Bank Accounts
The diamond industry in Surat, which recently faced an alarming situation as numerous bank accounts were frozen, has finally found relief. Immediate action was taken to remedy the situation, following a presentation made by the diamond industrialists of Surat to Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and Surat Police Commissioner Ajaykumar Tomar.
Approximately 12 of the frozen accounts have already been revived, and work is in progress to reopen the remaining ones. This commendable initiative was achieved through the swift intervention of Surat Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar, Additional Commissioner of Police Sharad Singhal, and the entire police team. They acted promptly in response to police instructions from states including Telangana, Kerala, and Maharashtra, which had initially led to the freezing of the accounts.
Former president of Surat Diamond Association and diamond industry leader, Dinesh Navadiya, expressed his satisfaction with the decisive actions taken, noting that it came after the intervention and instructions of State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi.
Navadiya also shared that reports indicate about 12 closed bank accounts have been brought back into operation from Kerala. The Surat Police Commissioner further revealed in a telephonic message that action has been taken to send letters to the Maharashtra and Telangana police, setting a strong precedent for coordination and effective decision-making to support one of Surat's key industries.
