72-Seater Flights Connect Surat with Indore and Udaipur
These new connections are part of a concerted effort to enhance accessibility to and from Surat. Indigo's new flights commenced with bookings opening two weeks ago. The Indore-bound flight will depart Surat at 7.55 pm and arrive at 9.25 pm, whereas the flight to Udaipur will leave at 4.20 pm and land at 5.35 pm.
The maiden flights saw an impressive 90 percent occupancy, with 66 passengers flying to Udaipur and 65 to Indore.
New Facilities and Growing Demand
Surat Airport's new parking facility has contributed to the increase in flights. Plans for 24x7 operation status by Diwali are also in the works.
Residents and traders of Surat had been advocating for air service to Indore and Udaipur for quite some time. Various trade organizations played an instrumental role in persuading private airlines to launch these new routes. The large number of textile traders commuting between Surat and the two cities will greatly benefit from these flights.
Moreover, the Surat Diamond Bourse is expected to begin operations in November. Leaders of Diamond Bourse have recently met with the Aviation Minister to propose international flights, further solidifying Surat's place as a significant aviation hub.
As Surat steps into a new phase of connectivity, its growth as a business and trade center seems poised to soar to new heights. The community's long-awaited demands have been met, setting the stage for more significant progress in the region's aviation industry.
