Vadodara - An ingenious scheme to transport illicit liquor was foiled by the District LCB, who acted on a tip that a white Maruti Eeco traveling from Vapi to Vadodara was loaded with alcohol. Stationed near Por Bridge on the National Highway, the team intercepted the car for inspection.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found crates of wine and beer cleverly concealed beneath wafer trays and Mamra bags. The haul totaled 876 bottles, with the vehicle and a mobile phone adding up to a combined value of Rs 3.5 lakh.
The driver, identified as Faisal Ali Abdullah Shaikh, a resident of Nalasopara's New Star Building in East Mumbai, was detained. During interrogation, Shaikh shared that an individual named Mara Seth had handed him the car under the Vapi bridge, instructing him to call upon reaching Vadodara. Only then was he made aware of the vehicle's illicit cargo.
Varna police station has officially filed a case concerning the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
