Surat : Dual Monitor Scheme Exposed in Electrical Assistant Examination
Court Denies Bail for Key Accused in Examination Tampering Case
Surat : An intricate scam involving dual monitors being operated from a single CPU during the electrical assistant examination has been brought to light. The key accused, Naran Maru, who played a pivotal role in this elaborate cheating scheme, was denied bail by the court.
The examination was organized to fill a total of 2,156 Vidyut Sahayak positions across multiple power companies in Gujarat, including DGVCL, MGVCL, UGVCL, PGVCL, and GSECL in cities like Surat and Ahmedabad. In this racket, Maru, along with other conspirators, would make early contact with the candidates and prearrange cheating mechanisms in exchange for money.
Prospective candidates would provide Maru with their admit cards and photographs, which were then sent to the designated examination center ahead of time. With the collaboration of the center owner or the computer lab in-charge, a special software was used to run two monitors from a single CPU. This allowed another person, not the candidate, to select the correct answers using a wireless mouse, ensuring the candidate's success.
The Surat Crime Branch registered complaints against 10 individuals in connection with this scandal. Among the arrested is Naran Bhojabhai Maru, a resident of Snehal Park Society-1, Miranagar, Junagadh, who has been in judicial custody since June 7, 2023. Maru sought bail through his legal counsel, but government advocate V.C. Panchal vehemently opposed it. After considering the presented arguments, the court ruled against granting Maru bail, further tightening the noose around the scam's perpetrators.
