Traffic Chaos in Surat Amid Tribal Rally

2-km Jam on Ring Road Bridge, Ambulances Diverted

Traffic Chaos in Surat Amid Tribal Rally

SURAT: The celebration of Tribal Day in Surat resulted in a massive vehicular logjam on Ring Road Bridge today. A rally, which started at Ambedkar's statue on Ring Road, led to a traffic hold-up spanning 2 km. This caused vehicles to crawl, taking about 20 minutes to cover a mere distance from Delhi Gate to Man Darwaza.

In the midst of this chaos, two 108 ambulances found themselves trapped. Swift action by traffic officials, however, enabled the ambulances to divert and reach their destinations promptly. It was no small feat, as carving a path for the emergency vehicles amid the congestion presented a formidable challenge for the police.

The traffic snarl began right from Delhi Gate, stretching until the exit of Ring Road. For about two hours, drivers were stranded, struggling to navigate the jam. The congestion only started to ease when the tribal rally proceeded towards Udhna.

The police and traffic personnel stationed at Ring Road Bridge faced their own set of challenges. Despite the preparations for such congestions, the rally added to their woes. At one point, the stretch above Sahara Darwaza had to be shut to facilitate emergency U-turns.

Continuous efforts by traffic officials ensured that the two 108 ambulances, coming from Delhi Gate, could be diverted safely by making a U-turn, highlighting their dedication and commitment to public service even in difficult situations.
