In a heroic act in Surat's Jahangirpura area, firefighters raced to the Rangraj Apartment after receiving distress calls about a woman trapped on the ninth floor. Dakshaben, an employee of the Surat Municipal Corporation and a resident of the building, found herself in peril when her apartment door unexpectedly locked, leaving her isolated inside.
Neighboring residents quickly identified the gravity of the situation when a woman living below Dakshaben's apartment heard her frantic shouts for help. Thanks to her swift reaction, the fire department was alerted and dispatched to the scene.
On arrival, the rescue team faced further challenges. "We tried accessing Dakshaben's apartment through the main door, but it wouldn't budge," recounted Fire Officer Vasant Suryavanshi. Undeterred, the firefighters hatched an alternative plan, opting to enter Dakshaben's apartment from the neighboring unit's gallery, utilizing ropes to bridge the distance.
Demonstrating their unwavering commitment and skill, the team ultimately breached Dakshaben's door from the inside, ensuring her safety. The rescue underscored the importance of community vigilance and the rapid response capabilities of Surat's fire department.
