Reckless Birthday Bash Halts Traffic on Surat's Outer Ring Road
Police apprehend seven after viral video shows dangerous celebration antics.
SURAT – A trend of holding raucous birthday celebrations on public roads, causing obstructions and potential hazards, has emerged as a concern for the citizens of Surat. Recently, a group of young individuals turned the Outer Ring Road into a makeshift party venue, causing quite a stir.
On this particular occasion, the partygoers halted their vehicles on the newly constructed Outer Ring Road, near Kharsad village in Kamrej, converting it into a party spot. As if blocking the road wasn't audacious enough, the revelers placed 8 to 10 cakes on the bonnets of their cars and set off firecrackers, causing further disruptions. These acts, not only flouted the rules but also posed significant threats to other motorists.
The audacious celebration did not stop at the scene. A video of the event, showcasing the attendees' antics and clear obstructions to other motorists, was made and subsequently went viral on social media platforms.
Acting swiftly on this, the Kamrej police arrested seven youths, including Chirag Mandani. They have been charged with violating public order by blocking the roadway and creating potential hazards for others. R.B. Bhatol, P.I. of Kamrej, recounted the youths' reckless actions, emphasizing how they jeopardized public safety.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks posed by such public gatherings, especially when it defies established safety norms. The police had earlier issued a notification warning against such gatherings, but the recent events highlight the need for stricter enforcement.
