Textile Market Witnesses Historic Recession, Claims Newly-Elected FOSTA Director Suresh Kumar Modi

In a turn of events in the recent FOSTTA elections, the Millennium Market of Ring Road witnessed a fresh face stepping up to the plate. Suresh Kumar Modi, initially a dedicated textile businessman at Jeeva Creation in the Millennium-1 Textile Market, rose through the ranks, highlighting the pressing issues of his textile market. Despite his detachment from business politics, his commitment to his market inspired its management to support his bid in the FOSTTA election. The result was a triumphant victory, with Modi assuming the role of a FOSTTA director.

Speaking to Loktej, Director Modi revealed alarming insights. "For the first time in 42 years, I've observed such a downturn in the textile industry," he remarked. According to Modi, his decision to join FOSTTA was driven by two primary factors: the admirable leadership of FOSTTA President Kailash Hakim and his vision to overcome the current market challenges. He stressed that the presence of deceitful traders was damaging the market's integrity, emphasizing the necessity for upright individuals in FOSTTA leadership.

Modi's journey in the textile world began in 1981 when he moved from Indore to Surat. Initially employed at an STM yarn firm for a modest salary of Rs.250 per month, he reminisced about times when daily sustenance cost him merely four rupees. Despite the hurdles, Modi's resilience shone through. By 1986, he transitioned from brokerage to running his own trade.

While the management of Millennium Market is primarily with the builder, there have been recurrent calls for businessmen to assume maintenance duties. However, attempts in the past resulted in chaos, leading to a consensus that the builder was best equipped to manage such a vast market.
