Surat : Lawyers Protest Against Proposed Court Relocation
Unified Opposition to Moving the Court to Industrial Jiav Budiya Area
Surat: Lawyers across Surat are voicing their strong opposition to the proposed relocation of the Surat court building from its current central location at Athwalines to the industrial region of Jiav Budiya. In a show of unity and disapproval, they conducted a significant rally, chanting slogans and presenting a memorandum to the District Collector.
This relocation has sparked intense dissatisfaction among the legal community. The Jiav Budia area, earmarked by the government for the new court building, is characterized by its industrial landscape and the associated pollution. The Surat Bar Association and its members have been consistently vocal about their concerns over relocating to Jiav Budia.
PT Rana, President of the Surat Lawyers Bar Association, remarked on the intensity of the protest. "Today's demonstration is a direct response to the government's decision to allocate space in the heavily industrialized and polluted Jiav Budia. As a collective, our lawyers have resolved not to move there. Given the current stalemate, we felt compelled to organize this rally, and the turnout of lawyers was overwhelming."
The legal fraternity remains hopeful that their collective efforts will result in a reconsideration of the court's relocation plan.
