Surat : Fire Breaks Out on 11th Floor of High-Rise Due to Tulsi Lamp Flame
Quick Action Averts Major Accident as Flat Owner Extinguishes Flames
Surat, July 18, 2023 - A sudden fire erupted on the 11th floor of Rameshwar Hills, located opposite D-Mart in Althan area, sparking fear and chaos among residents. The incident occurred as the flame of a lamp, placed on a Tulsi Kund, caught fire in a flat. Fortunately, the flat owner's prompt response with a fire extinguisher prevented a potential disaster. No injuries have been reported.
The blaze on the 11th floor of the high-rise apartment sent alarm bells ringing throughout the area. Upon learning of the seriousness of the situation, the flat owner took immediate action, swiftly dousing the flames with a fire extinguisher, thereby averting a major accident. Investigation revealed that the lamp, situated above the Tulsi pot in the flat's gallery, ignited after the curtains moved due to strong winds.
Maruti Sonavane, the Fire Officer, stated that the response team promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving the report. Fire engines from the nearby fire stations in Majura, Bhestan, and Vesu were dispatched as the curtains in the gallery of the 11th floor apartment were ablaze. However, the flames had already been extinguished by the vigilant neighbor before the arrival of the firefighters. The fire was caused by the burning lamp near the Tulsi plant, which caught the curtains when they were blown by the wind. The neighbor effectively employed fire-fighting equipment to bring the fire under control and prevent its spread within the building.
Instances like these emphasize the importance of exercising caution while lighting lamps near Tulsi pots, even in high-rise buildings. The incident serves as a reminder for residents to be vigilant and take necessary safety measures to avoid potential accidents and mitigate risks.
