In a tragic incident in the Sachin GIDC area of Surat, a wall at a construction site collapsed, resulting in the death of one worker and leaving three others trapped in the debris. The fire department, alerted about the situation, rushed to the scene promptly to initiate rescue operations.
The mishap occurred at Plot No. 269 of Road No. 2 in Sachin GIDC where construction work for a dye printing mill was underway. An unexpected wall collapse led to the immediate death of one worker on-site. Firefighters were able to extricate three other laborers from the debris, who were immediately transported to the local hospital for treatment.
Post the incident, panic ensued on-site. The deceased has been identified as Bharat Veljibhai Baria, a 40-year-old laborer. According to the fire department officer, it was the wall of the basement that had given way, leading to the tragic incident. As the wall collapsed, workers, in their attempt to escape, tripped and were struck by the falling debris, resulting in severe injuries and the unfortunate death of one individual.
The fire department teams from Bhestan and Dindoli were successful in their quick response to the scene, managing to rescue three workers within minutes of their arrival. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to save Mr. Baria, whose body was recovered from under the debris. The rescue operations and investigation into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
