Surat police have arrested a man after a video of him thrashing his cousin with sticks went viral on social media. The accused, identified as Hasim Bhaiya, was taken into custody after the video, in which he is seen publicly assaulting a young man, circulated widely online. The victim, Samad Sheikh, was also brought to the police station but refused to file a complaint, stating that the accused was his cousin and had previously wrangled with his parents at home.
The incident took place in Surat's Amroli area and the accused, who hails from Kosad, was charged with illegal possession of the stick used in the assault. The police took custodial action against Hasim Bhaiya after the victim refused to press charges. The viral video had caused widespread outrage on social media, with users calling for action against the accused.
