Surat Travel Operators Meet with Police to Resolve Traffic Dispute
Travel operators and police department officials agree to coordinate and find solutions to alleviate traffic snarls caused by heavy vehicles in the city.
The travel operators in Surat have agreed to meet with officials from the police department to resolve a dispute over heavy vehicle traffic in the city. The dispute arose after an MLA complained that luxury buses were causing traffic snarls by plying the roads ahead of schedule. The travel operators, however, argued that other types of vehicles also contributed to the problem.
The travel operators have formed a team of officers from the police department's traffic division to conduct a survey and identify designated pickup and drop-off points for passengers in the city. They have also urged the police department to allow private buses to enter the city 24 hours a day, like government buses, to alleviate the traffic problem.
The travel operators have been stopping their buses outside the city limits for the past two days, causing inconvenience to passengers. However, they have expressed a willingness to cooperate with the police department and find a solution to the problem.
Dinesh Andhan of the Private Bus Association has acknowledged the issue and has called for a meeting with the DCP of the traffic department to settle the matter. While the travel operators have called for MLA Kumar Kanani to attend the meeting, they have stated that they are ready to coordinate with the police department officials regardless of whether he attends or not.
