Accused Used Information Technology to Disseminate Personal Images and Videos of Ex-Wife
In a shocking incident in Vadodara, a man created a fraudulent Instagram account in his ex-wife's name, using it as a platform to share her personal pictures and videos in a bid to tarnish her reputation. The police have taken swift action and arrested the accused, Samuel Kanubhai Parmar, under the Information Technology Amendment Act 66C.
The 22-year-old victim, a resident of the Alkapuri area and an employee at a private company, filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station. She reported that she had divorced Parmar, a resident of Vankarwas, Anand, in 2021 after a love marriage. However, she recently discovered that images and videos featuring her and Parmar had been maliciously made public on a fake Instagram account that had been set up in her name.
The victim reported that Parmar created the false account with the explicit intent of damaging her social standing. Following her complaint, police launched an investigation, which confirmed that Parmar was indeed behind the creation and use of the bogus Instagram account. The quick response and subsequent arrest underscore the growing importance of cybersecurity in protecting individuals from online defamation and harassment.
