The Surat Municipal Corporation organized the first-ever Saree Walkathon, a unique event aimed at promoting fitness among the city's women. Prime Minister Modi expressed his appreciation for this initiative, highlighting the significance of the saree as an emblem of Indian culture. The Saree Walkathon showcased a colorful spectacle, resembling a miniature India as women from various states within Gujarat and even from different countries participated. Further reinforcing Surat's exceptional achievements, on June 21, over 153,000 people gathered in Surat to participate in a massive yoga session, breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering for a yoga session in one place. Gujarat's Home Minister, Harsh Sanghvi, played a key role in organizing this record-breaking event on the state-level International Day of Yoga. The Prime Minister's retweet of a congratulatory message for Surat's accomplishment brought additional recognition to the city's feat.
