Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and Faith Foundation conducted a workshop on Tobacco Free Educational Institutions as part of the 14th AdiwasiAdaanPradanKaryakram, with 250 youths from four states in attendance. The aim of the workshop was to educate the attendees on the importance of a tobacco-free environment in educational institutions, and the role that youth can play in achieving this goal.
The workshop, held on February 20th, was part of the ongoing campaign by NYKS and Faith Foundation to promote a healthy lifestyle by avoiding tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Speaker Susan Samson from Faith Foundation addressed the audience on several topics, including women's empowerment, HIV/AIDS, tobacco control initiatives, de-addiction, and basic life-skills modules.
The workshop also highlighted the law regulating tobacco and its products (COTPA 2003) and stressed the need for a strong and sustained effort to promote a tobacco-free environment in educational institutions. The event was well-received by attendees who were enthusiastic about the idea of creating a healthier environment in their schools and colleges.
