Former Gujarat Governor and BJP leader Om Prakash Kohli passes away

Om Prakash Kohli, former Governor of Gujarat and senior BJP leader, passed away on Monday at the age of 87. He held the position of Governor from July 2014 until January 2018, with additional responsibility as Governor of Madhya Pradesh from September 2016 to January 2018. Kohli was also appointed as the Chancellor of Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar.

Kohli was remembered by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other political leaders who took to social media to pay tribute to the former Governor. During his time in office, Kohli was known for his love for reading and established a library of books in Gujarat. Prior to his political career, Kohli worked as a lecturer at Hansraj College and Deshbandhu College for 37 years, after completing his Master of Arts in Hindi from Delhi University.

Kohli’s contributions to the state of Gujarat were recognized by leaders across the political spectrum, who acknowledged his efforts towards promoting education and literacy in the state. His passing is being mourned by the people of Gujarat and the BJP, who have lost a stalwart leader.
