Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Indonesia's highest civilian honor, the 'Bintang Jasa Utama of the Republic of Indonesia'. He dedicated this honor to 1.4 billion Indians and the centuries-old relationship between the two countries.
President Prabowo Subianto personally welcomed PM Modi at the airport, reflecting the special warmth between the two nations and marking the beginning of a new and golden chapter in bilateral relations. In-depth discussions were held with President Prabowo on strategic agreements regarding defense and maritime security, covering key areas such as critical minerals and the digital economy. Both countries agreed to enhance coordination between coast guards to ensure security in the Indian Ocean and to accelerate defense exchanges.
Experts believe that this partnership will further strengthen India's strategic hold in the Indian Ocean region, which is crucial for peace and stability in the area. Initiatives for cultural and health cooperation were also emphasized alongside economic and strategic discussions.
India will export affordable and high-quality medicines to Indonesia and assist in capacity building for health workers there. Additionally, both leaders will visit the historic Prambanan temple complex and announce a major initiative for its preservation and restoration, further deepening the ancient civilizational and cultural bridge between the two countries.
