Surat Woman IAS Officer Champions Education for Industrious Class-9 Student

SURAT – Sunaina Tomar, a woman IAS officer based in Surat, has publicly taken up the educational responsibility of a class-9 student, known for balancing her studies while supporting her family through garbage collection. This pledge occurred during the commencement of the three-day School Entrance Festival and Girl Child Education Festival in Gujarat, which started today.

Tomar, serving as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Social Justice Department, recognized the girl's talent and determination during the ceremony. The girl, Chhaya Rathod, had topped the scholarship exam while maintaining a tough economic and social standing. Amidst the celebration, Tomar announced her decision to take on the future educational responsibilities of Rathod.

Tomar's pledge transpired as a part of the entrance ceremony for three schools situated near the Police Headquarters of Surat's Eighth Zone. Her action reflects the festival's ongoing success in promoting girl-child education.

Tomar also instructed the committee officials and school teachers to provide assistance for any further academic or social needs Rathod may face. She insisted that Rathod should have direct access to her for any aid, showcasing an empathetic and proactive approach in supporting the girl's ambitions.

This move by the woman IAS officer amplifies the essence of the festival – fostering an environment that empowers young girls and enables them to continue their education.
