Surat: Gauri Goyal from Surat selected for Indian Under-19 Women's Cricket Team, a historic achievement for the city and Gujarat

Gauri Prakash Goyal, a talented female cricketer from Surat, has been selected for the Indian Women's Under-19 Cricket Team for the Sri Lanka Women's Under-19 team's tour of India. This achievement is a matter of pride not only for the Surat District Cricket Association but for the entire city and Gujarat.

Gauri has become the first female cricketer from Gujarat to be included in the Indian Under-19 team. Currently studying in the 12th grade, Gauri has established herself as a skilled left-arm spinner and a reliable middle-order batsman. Her consistent outstanding performance in domestic cricket has attracted the attention of the selectors.

Recently, she was also selected for the 26-day Center of Excellence (COE) Under-19 Women's Elite Camp organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The BCCI and National Cricket Academy selected 78 talented female players from across the country for this special camp. Besides Gauri Goyal from Gujarat, Aksha Parmar, Charlie Solanki, Ayushi Patel, Jiya Jain, and Siya Patel were also included.

After the camp, an inter-camp tournament was held among six teams of 13 players each, where Gauri impressed everyone with her remarkable bowling. Gauri's current season has been exceptional. She has played a total of 28 BCCI matches across Under-19, Under-23, and senior women's categories, reflecting her continuous hard work, dedication, and cricketing skills.

The Indian and Sri Lankan Under-19 women's teams will play three T20 matches in Chennai and three One Day matches in Puducherry. Following this, keeping in mind the Women's Under-19 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh and Nepal in January 2027, the BCCI will select 25 probable players at the end of July.

On this remarkable achievement, Kanyabhai Contractor, President of the Surat District Cricket Association, and Hiteshbhai Patel, Minister, presented Gauri with a cash award of ₹1,11,111 as encouragement. Officials from the Gujarat cricket community and the SDCA family congratulated Gauri on this historic achievement and wished her excellent performance while representing India at the international level.
