Government committed to reaching Ayushman Bharat scheme to the last person in Bengal: Shubhendu Adhikari

Kolkata, May 12. West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari stated today that reaching the Ayushman Bharat scheme to the last person in the state is a priority for his government.

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, mentioning that the 'double engine government' is committed to delivering all welfare schemes of the central government to the people without any hindrance. The Chief Minister noted on 'X' that for years, the people of West Bengal were deprived of the visionary health and welfare schemes of the central government. Now, with the double engine government, efforts will be made to ensure that all central schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, reach the last mile.

He stated that West Bengal is now back on the path of development. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also expressed happiness over the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. The Prime Minister mentioned that the people of West Bengal will now benefit from the world's largest health scheme, which ensures quality and affordable medical facilities.

He added that the double engine government will also ensure the smooth implementation of central schemes. Recently sworn-in Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari announced the implementation of the 'Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana' in the state. Under this scheme, the people of the state will be able to benefit from the central government's major health insurance scheme.

This scheme, operated under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare by the National Health Authority, aims to provide cashless hospital treatment facilities up to five lakh rupees per year to economically weaker and needy families. The scheme was launched in September 2018.
